Ten best patriotic movies by Bollywood

Since we are so close to Independence day, we thought we should share with you our list of the top 10 Bollywood movies. The movies that really move and evoke a feeling of strong love towards our own country.
Here is our list in a descending order.

10. Rang De Basanti : Though this film starts off as a film about love and care and free college life but as the narrative progresses, the film escalats quickly and ends with a strong sense of patriotism.

9. Gadar, Ek Prem Katha : This Sunny Deol film is also a love story but in the backdrop of strong patriotic fervor. This film moves you to love your own country.

8. Chak De! India : This film is about sports but if you see it that way, then you are losing the narrative. The film is about hockey, a game that the whole country takes pride in and about winning at an international level. No film can be as patriotic as this one. We also loved Shah Rukh Khan in this film.

7. Mangal Pandey : The whole film is about an uprising against the British supremacy and though the film performed badly at the box office, we found it apt to mention the film here.

6. Lagaan : Again an Aamir Khan gem. The film was so good that it gripped the nation. Why need guns to defeat the British Empire when you have a cricket bat and ball with Amitabh Bachchan’s commentary to back it up?

5. Sarfarosh : Aamir Khan’s film spoke about how terrorism was gripping the nation. The film was made years back but it is still as relevant today.

4. Border : This JP Dutta masterpiece speaks about the trials and travails of soldiers fighting on the border. It literally moves you to tears.

3. Mission Kashmir : This film speaks about the burning problem that refuses to get doused, that is Kashmir. It has some serious good performances from Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt.

2. Bajrangi Bhaijaan : Why talk about conflict when you can spread love? This film talks about how border conflicts doesn’t change the fact that all Indians and Pakistanis are in fact connected with each other in more ways than one.

1. Roza : If there is any film that has to be rated number one, then it is this masterpiece by Maniratnam. Every frame of this film is a classic including great acting by Madhoo and Arvind Swamy and out-of-the-world music by maestro AR Rahman.
