Everybody I know is writing an obituary of Kangana Ranaut’s film career. The last one I read was Shobha De’s column where she said how Kangana will be down in the dumps while the ‘big boys will party on’.

There are several ‘news’ reports swirling around on the internet that say Kangana is now officially on the ‘banned’ list of all top Bollywood heroes. I particularly read one such report (that Shobha might have been referring to too) which published a list of male stars who wouldn’t work with Kangana anymore.

Really?

Do you think that this ‘revelation’ or controversy will cost Kangana her Bollywood career?

Really, you think so?

Wait! This wouldn’t cost her anything.

Sorry, I have to break the bubble but Kangana’s career will go on as usual. In fact, she might start doing better post this controversy.

Allow me to explain.

First of all, let’s talk about the Khans. The Khans never showed any interest towards Kangana Ranaut, ever. Forget about casting her in their films. In fact, Kangana had repeatedly said in her interviews that she is not bothered about Khans not casting her in their films. She has said this too many times.

In fact, I remember one such interview where she said that she has made it so far without the Khans and there is no reason why she wouldn’t be able to walk the distance without their help. I was told that she had got a lot of flak for making that statement against the kings of Bollywood.

In 2011, she had done a film called Rascals with Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt which was a super duper box office disaster. Rumours did the rounds that there were some issues between the stars following which both Sanjay and Ajay decided not to work with her anymore. I don’t think that stance has changed.

The only big star she was very friendly with was Hrithik Roshan. She did a forgettable role in the box office disaster Kites that was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Apart from a movie critic terming the box office super disaster as ‘Hrithik Porn’, the movie famously bought Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori closer to each other. We all know the rest of the story.

The point I want to make here is that whenever Kangana has tried to pair up with a big male co-star, she has met with immense disappointment. Even the film Krrish3, which allegedly made Hrithik Roshan pursue her, never did anything good for her career. Though the film was a hit, the praise went to the lead pair of Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan. Some attention was also focussed on Vivek Oberoi ( who played the villain) but there was nothing (or next to nothing) left for Kangana to take back home.

If you look at her filmography, you will notice that whenever she has paired up with a big star, it didn’t work out for her.

Yes, you can argue that Kangana won’t ever be able to work with Hrithik Roshan again but in my opinion, he is the real loser in this battle and not Kangana.

The moment you tag a successful woman as a mental patient, public sympathy will veer towards her. If you notice, in all this blame game and muck throwing, Kangana never directly said anything to anybody. She continues to remain silent while everybody around her to doing all the talking.

Her ‘friends’ have alleged in the media that Hrithik had an intense affair with Kangana after chasing her for months and even proposed to her to in Paris. The ‘friend’ also claimed that there were email exchanges between them (which basically hints at the fact that there is proof of the affair with Kangana).

On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan hurled a legal notice at Kangana (which she has replied with more gusto) and then gave a statement to the press hinting that she has psychological issues.

If you go by the chatter on social media, round one has definitely gone to Kangana.

I don’t know what image Kangana has built of herself going by the numerous controversies she has encountered. But there’s one thing for sure — everybody knows Kangana to be straightforward woman who wears her heart on her sleeve.

Coming back to the issue of her career getting ruined, Kangana has reached a stage where she cannot be deemed fit for an arm candy role or a second-from-the-left character which used to be the case in the past.

Now, she will have to sign roles that demand the full attention of the audience. At least for the next few years.

The stage where Kangana is in and level where the current Bollywood superstars are, don’t meet anywhere.

Kangana is running another parallel race of a male heroine unlike most other Bollywood heroines.

This controversy will actually do her good than cause any damage.
