The Dream Makers of Bollywood

It’s
a common fact, we cherish and adore the stars we watch on the silver screen.
However, there are bigger stars behind these successful star faces, the ones
who make the actors who they are today – the big Daddies or rather, the dream
makers of Bollywood; the ones who discover their talent and serve it on our
platter of entertainment. Let’s take a look at some
ace directors of the industry, who presented us some of the biggest
talented actors in Bollywood, at their best:

Aditya Chopra : The head
honcho of one of the biggest and grandest production houses, YRF films, Aditya
Chopra is the person who has given us, one of the most undeniable talents of
recent times, Ranvir Singh. This powerhouse of talent and energy is the
discovery of Mr. Chopra. The lad through his breakthrough debut Band Baaja Baaraat and subsequent films
with YRF, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Gunday made it obvious that he is here
to stay. Aditya Chopra believes in giving wings to
the dreams of talented, aspiring actors – whether it was launching Anushka
Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Bhumi Pednekar or Vaani
Kapoor.

Mahesh
Bhatt :
Mahesh
Bhatt is well known for his deep thoughts and discoveries of talented actors.
The director has not just contributed unconventional great films to Bollywood, but also actors, who went on to achieve superstardom
in the industry. One of his biggest discoveries is Emraan Hashmi; the actor,
who was launched by Bhatts, is one of the biggest stars in the industry with a
huge amount of fan following. Right from Anupam Kher in Saaransh to his own daughter Pooja Bhatt in Daddy, from Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in musical blockbuster Aashiqui to John Abraham in Jism, from Emraan Hashmi in Footpath to the sexy siren Sunny Leone
in Jism 2, Mahesh Bhatt has been an
anchor to many aspiring actors.

Subhash
Ghai :
In his 40-year-long directorial journey
Ghai gave the industry quite a few gorgeous faces who went onto become stars
and superstars in their own way. Ghai is instrumental in giving the industry
some really talented actors like Madhuri Dixit, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Manisha
Koirala and Mahima Chaudhury to name a few. For those not in the know, Jackie
Shroff too was launched in showman’s romantic drama, Hero and Anil Kapoor too became a sought-after actor, thanks to
Ghai’s Meri Jung. In fact, Anil
Kapoor and Jackie Shroff’s careers achieved greater heights after they appeared
together in Ghai’s blockbusters like Karma
and Ram Lakhan. Although the
filmmaker in him has taken a backseat these days, we wish he wields the
megaphone soon because the showman can still give the young directors a run for
their money.

Ram Gopal Verma :Though his name now reminds us of the debacle of
his horror films, there was a time when he was well-known and applauded for the
cinema he created. His much renowned and applauded film Satya changed the career graph for actor Manoj Bajpayee. Manoj’s performance
in the film was highly appreciated and his character Bhiku Mhatre became one of
the cult on-screen characters of Hindi cinema. Well Manoj is not the only
actor whose career saw a steep growth after working with RGV. Urmila
Matondkar’s most memorable films –Rangeela,
Kaun, Daud
and Bhoot – happen to
be RGV’s directorials. And who would deny that Sarkar and Sarkar Raj are
considered to be two of Abhishek Bachchan’s best performances till date?

Anurag Kashyap : Director Anurag Kashyap is one of the most
unconventional directors who has carved a niche for himself with his
own type of cinema. And from off-beat films, he has managed to become one of
the mainstream directors still making his own type of films. He is
the one who launched Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a potential lead actor in Gangs of Wasseypur and Gangs of Wasseypur 2. These two films changed the ball game for Nawaz
who later on went on to pivotal roles alongside actors like Vidya Balan in Kahaani, Salman Khan in Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Shah Rukh Khan in his forthcoming film Raees.

Tigmanshu Dhulia : The
Jack of all trades – actor, director, writer, screen writer, producer and
casting director – who has hugely contributed to Indian Cinema and
television is also the one who gave not just India but the world, one of the
cult actors ever who we profoundly know as Irrfan Khan. Though Irrfan did
theatre, television and some mediocre roles, his talent was not presented in
the way Tigmanshu did in films like Haasil
and Paan Singh Tomar that is still
considered to be a milestone film of Irrfan’s career and one of his superlative
performances till date.

Hansal Mehta : Hansal
Mehta is one of the eminent directors we have in our country today and he
proved it with his latest release Aligarh which has been highly applauded by
the audience and critics alike. He is the one who revamped the career of actor
Rajkummar Rao, with the critically acclaimed films like Shahid and Citylights, the
former of which won National Awards for Best Actor and Best Director. Shahid
even gave Rajkumar Rao a great reputation of an acting star in the
industry.
