It seldom happens that a character in a franchise becomes
a legend and it becomes next to impossible to supersede an actor’s brilliant
performance that makes the character immortal. Such has been the charisma of an
actor par excellence, Judi Dench who has made the character of M legendary with
her genius. We know it’s almost impossible to match up to Dench’s brilliance,
but imagination knows no bounds. We take a look at some Bollywood actresses who
could play M in a James Bond film!
Rekha: Remember Madam Maya in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi? Of course
you do, don’t you? Her poise, her attitude, her charm, body language and voice
are a fantastic combination that makes Rekha a perfect candidate to play Bond’s
boss. After all, with all these qualities, Rekha was born with a license to
Sridevi: Like Rekha, Sridevi too isn’t doing too many films of
late, but that doesn’t make her any lesser candidate to play the legendary boss
of 007. Sridevi has played a variety of roles in her illustrious career and
proved her impeccable versatility everytime she has appeared on screen. She too
has all that it takes to be M in the blockbuster franchise.
Sharmila Tagore: Nobody remembers the last time she acted in a film. Well,
we will remind you. It was alongside her son Saif in Eklavya. She has bid adieu
to films to take care of her royal family and its lineage. However, she is as
gorgeous and graceful as always. The grace and panache with which Sharmila
carries herself and her being a royal empress give her a perfect edge of playing
the legendary Hollywood character.
Hema Malini: We might have not seen her playing a bold and modern
woman in films of late; even if Hema does a film, she prefers playing a
housewife and a mother and rightly so. However, with an acting talent like hers
and beauty of a dream girl, she can do magic with the character that Judi Dench
has made timeless with her impeccable talent!
Sushmita Sen: She is a perfect example of ‘beauty with brains’. With
brilliant wit, unmatched sense of humour and perfect attitude, Sushmita can
infuse brilliance in the character of M. It would be interesting to see former
Miss Universe’s interpretation of the character. Now imagine if Hrithik Roshan
was to play Bond with her? The world is not enough, isn’t it?
Madhuri Dixit: Hollywood filmmakers would give their left arm to have
such a gorgeous actress as M in one of their blockbuster franchises. Who wouldn’t
want to see Madhuri Dixit as a young M, giving orders to one of the hottest and
sexiest secret agents? Even Bond would love to obey orders, considering they
are coming from a boss as hot and elegant as Madhuri Dixit. After all, M for
Madhuri, isn’t it?
Bachchan: Being India’s ambassador to world cinema, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan is the strongest candidate in the race of playing M. Having worked in
numerous western films, she knows the way Hollywood functions and the demands
of Hollywood filmmakers too. She knows what goes into make a Hollywood
character immortal and it would be an ultimate visual delight to see such an
impeccably gorgeous M in the history of the 007 franchise.
Kajol: Okay, she might not be the best dressed and one of the
most perfectly turned out actresses of B-town, but her acting talent knows no
bounds. With razor sharp wit and sense of humour, Kajol too can do wonders if
cast as M in the next Bond film. Yes, she will need to lose weight and get in
the right shape to look perfect in the blazer / jacket look, which we are sure
she will be able to achieve in no time.
Tabu: Judi Dench as M was stylish, sharp, cunning and a bit
manipulative in such a brilliant way that it might not be possible for any
other actress to match up to her brilliance, but when it comes to acting
talent, Tabu is no less a performer. She might not have played a modern day woman
or a contemporary character anywhere close to M, but if cast to play the
role, she would give an intriguing interpretation to the character.
Vidya Balan: You might think we are out of our minds to include Vidya
Balan in this list. Considering a ‘fashionista’ that she is, and how ‘modern’
and ‘well turned out’ she is on most occasions, Vidya could be the last person
to play M in a Bond film. But being a powerhouse performer who is known to make
every character she plays, immortal, she will most certainly add her own charm
and charisma and infuse life in M.
