The actress is
making her debut in Marathi cinema with a cameo in Ek Albela which will see her
essaying Geeta Bali on screen.

Vidya Balan doesn’t disappoint you, ever. Her films might
have done that in the recent past, but even in those box office debacles, Vidya
was as honest in her performance as she has been in her blockbusters.
The actress, who actually started her acting career with a
Bengali film before Parineeta happened, is now all set to add another feather
to her creative cap. The talented actress will be seen playing Geeta Bali in a
Marathi film which is a biopic on yesteryear actor, Bhagwan Dada. Yes, it’s a
cameo and in case you’re wondering how much money she was paid for her
six-day schedule, here is the answer.
Vidya didn’t charge a single penny for the role and
readily agreed to play the part because firstly, she got to be part of a Marathi
film which had been a dream that she had been nurturing for a while and
secondly, she had been a huge fan of Geeta Bali, so when she got to play her
favourite star on screen, she immediately grabbed the opportunity. Knowing the
budget constraints of the filmmakers, she decided to do the cameo free and
didn’t charge anything for playing the part.
Now that’s what we call a sweet gesture by an actor who
can give many young actresses a run for their money!
