Bollywood

They are same same, but different.

Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta were both pageant queens, have won the titles of Miss World and Miss Universe, respectively, in the year 2000. They both made their Bollywood debut together in 2003 with the film Andaaz.

Their film was a success and they shared the Filmfare award for ‘Best Debut Female’ that year. However their careers have been starkly different ever since.

In 2004 Priyanka did Aitraaz, a film that saw her play the negative role so brilliantly. The film defined her career and won her many accolades. Whereas on the other hand, Lara was seen in films like Khakee, Masti and Aan where her roles had little significance.

Priyanka has had a number of misses at the box office as well with films like Bluffmaster, Love Story 2050, Drona and so on. But in 2008, she made a major comeback with the film Fashion. The tailor-made role in this Madhur Bhandarkar directorial won her the National Award and a Filmfare award along with a number of other laurels. Around the same time, Lara was seen in films like Partner and Billu, of which the former didn’t let her prove her mettle and the latter flopped at the box office.

Priyanka has since then gone on to work in films like 7 Khoon Maaf, Agneepath, Barfi!, Krrish 3 and Mary Kom all of which not only proved her as an actress of substance but also brought a lot of glory to her career and added credibility to her repertoire. She has fabulously established herself as an A-lister in Bollywood. Not only that she has also set foot in Hollywood and is doing an impressive job in Quantico, a TV series which she plays the lead role in.

Lara on the other hand, got married to Tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi and soon welcomed motherhood that made her take a sabbatical of five years. These five years saw tremendous growth in Priyanka’s career, superstardom, global recognition and international appreciation. Lara was last seen in the film Singh is Bling as a supporting actor.
