As you can see in the trailer, Sonam Kapoor’s Khoobsurat is way too different from Rekha’s film of the same name. But isn’t it supposed to be a remake?

When we escalated the issue to Sonam, she replied that the film, at best, should be regarded as an ode to Hrishikesh Mukherjee (the director of Rekha’s Khoobsurat).

“I cannot step into Rekhaji’s shoes as I will not be able to do justice to what she did to the original classic. So, I would not compare the film to the earlier classic. Rekhaji is close to this film and we are going to show the film to her soon. You know what? She even liked Ayesha!” Sonam exclaims.

In the film, Sonam plays the role of Mili Chakravarty, a spirited young girl, also a physiotherapist who creates furore in an order-crazy royal family.

“I am playing myself in the film. What you will see on the screen is the real me. Rhea (her elder sister) and (director) Shahshank Ghosh have made sure that they show every side of me in the film. They have shamelessly exposed me in the film,” Sonam says quite non-chalantly.

When we asked her about her next project, Sonam said that she is contemplating working on a “dark film”.

“I would love to do a dark film after this and we are working on that,” the actress said.
