There are a very few actors in Bollywood today who have come from television. Shah Rukh Khan’s story is what a lot of actors aspire for, but sadly TV actors find it hard to create a place for themselves in the big league. But here are some actors who’ve actually made and are doing well too.
Sushant Singh Rajput: His claim to fame was the Balaji soap Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV. He debuted with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che. The film was critically acclaimaed. He went on to do films like Rajkumar Hirani’s PK, Maneesh Sharma’s Shuddh Desi Romance and Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. His latest M.S.Dhoni-The Untold Story directed by Neeraj Pandey broke box office records. He is now looking forward to Dinesh Vijan’s debut directorial venture Raabta.
Karan Singh Grover: He became every teenage girls’ sweetheart when he played Dr. Armaan Mallik in Star One’s Dil Mill Gaye. The hunk made his debut with horror venture Alone with Biapsha Basu. Ever since then he has had a huge female fan following on the big screen too.
Vikrant Massey: He grabbed a lot of eyeballs as the young Shyam in Balika Badhu. But it was the dashing young debutant in Dil Dhadakne Do that caught the fancy of many young female fans. He will now be seen in Konkana Sen’s directorial debut Death at the Gunj. He has also turned producer with short film 35 mm.
Barun Sobti: He became the cynosure of all eyes with serials like Baat Hamari Pakki hai and Iss Pyar ko kya naam doon. The fan following followed when he debuted with Main aur Mr. Right. His fans are now looking forward to his next.
Kapil Sharma: His debut venture in the lead Kis kisko pyar karoon with four pretty women was a huge success. The actor has signed a three film deal with his directors Abbas –Mustan who returned to comedy after a long time.
Gurmeet Choudhary: He almost had the female fans queuing up for him when he appeared as Ram on the small screen. But it was his debut as the dashing hero in Vikram Bhatt’s Khamoshiyan that has turned the tables for him. He second film was Wajah Tum Ho.
