Gone are the days when Bollywood
actresses hesitated to portray dark negative shades on the big
screen. Actresses are now essaying negative roles with confidence and
conviction. After making a debut with a hard-hitting film like Citylights, Actress Patralekhaa is
all set for a Bhatt film titled Love
Games where she plays thenegative lead with shades of grey. Here is a
list of Bollywood heroines who chose to break the stereotype and explore
their dark side.

Priyanka
Chopra : PeeCee was brave enough to play a
negative role, in the initial days of her career. Her performance as the ambitious,
career-oriented-woman-turned-sizzling dominating boss in the movie Aitraaz is unforgettable. The film
won her tremendous critical acclaim apart from countless accolades and laurels
from all quarters. Aitraaz
undoubtedly remains one of her career’s best performances till date! Let’s see
if she manages to create the same magic as the villain in Hollywood blockbuster
Baywatch or not. We are sure she will
have the cake and eat it too.

Kajol : Playing the role of a psychotic
lover in the movie Gupt helped
her get a lot of awards and recognition for the dark character which she
portrayed with aplomb. Kajol proved that no matter what the character, she knows
how to own it and walk away with the maximum acclaim and accolades and she did
exactly that despite playing the main villain when all her contemporaries were
busy singing and dancing around the trees!

Katrina
Kaif : In Abbas-Mustan directorial Race that had more twists
and turns than a jigsaw puzzle, Katrina Kaif broke her good-girl image to portray the
negative character. Her unconventional and quirky chemistry wit Akshaye
Khanna and Saif Ali Khan was loved by all and how can one forget a sexy, sensuous
Katrina dancing to a chartbuster, Zara
zara kiss me kiss me, zara zara love me love me?

Vidya
Balan : As the cold-blooded vamp in Vishal
Bhardwaj’s Ishqiya that had actors
like Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi playing the lead apart from theatre actor
like Adil Hussain, Vidya surely gave one of her finest performances apart
from giving such acclaimed actors a run for their money. Despite sharing the
screen space with acting stalwarts, there is no doubt that people still
remember Ishqiya as a ‘Vidya Balan
film’ and that, in no way, is a mean feat to achieve!

Bipasha
Basu : Her sex appeal lies in her being honest
and audacious when it comes to experimenting with different genre films and
interesting yet brave characters. This dusky bong bombshell, who stole every man’s heart and gave them many
sleepless nights, got her much-deserved recognition after playing the
dark shaded role in Jism – a film that
made Bipasha a star and a house-hold name overnight! We wish she strikes back
with an equally audacious role and shuts her detractors in the near future.
