Actors who went out of their comfort zone in 2015

For actors, being
comfortable in their zone works against their craft. When you are comfortable
with no challenge, there are no sparks of passion, there is no vulnerability
and there is no desire on the part of the audience to watch. Not every actor is successful in their attempts to
break out of the box; some people are better left playing to their strengths as
opposed to trying to find new ones. But others are able to reach new heights,
adding variety to their careers and delighting audiences with their unexpected
abilities. Here are 4 actors who got out of their comfort zone in
2015.

Salman Khan – Bajrangi Bhaijaan : The superstar has
played a charming, irreverent superhero in almost every film after Wanted. No wonder, it was difficult for
him to play the common man after doing films like Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and
Kick. Bajrangi Bhaijaan brought a completely new and different actor in him to
the fore. Salman’s character was closest to how he is in real life. When you
portray on the big screen what you preach off screen, it is bound to affect and
connect with the audience and that’s exactly what happened with Bajrangi
Bhaijaan that had a spectacular run at the box office.

Irrfan Khan – Piku : The actor par
excellence, who is known to raise the bar with every film and role he gets
into, did it again this year with Piku, a film that majorly revolved around the
quirky relationship between a father and daughter. Thanks to Piku, we got to
see his most subtle and romantic side. The way he underplayed the character
with subtle humour won him tremendous adulation and acclaim all over. This was
another important character role that Irrfan left his fans overwhelmed with.

Kangana Ranaut – Tanu Weds Manu Returns : Tanu weds Manu
returns was the second best film for Kangana after Queen as she got to
experiment playing a twin role for the first time in her career and she did a
marvelous job as she not only got out of her comfort zone but even played by
the gallery. Though initially she had huge difficulty in playing the double
roles, she managed to do a fantastic job. Needless to say, the film got
her tremendous critical acclaim and once again proved that she is a woman of
great substance.

Varun Dhavan – Badlapur : The flamboyant
star Varun always wanted to do a thriller but no one thought that he could ever
pull it off. Badlapur offered him the chance to experiment with the genre which
he enjoys watching. Director Sriram Raghavan is a genius who keeps looking to
push the envelope and do something new and
he did the same with Varun as he held him by his collar and pulled him out of
his comfort zone. Badlapur was a gamble that beautifully paid off for Varun
Dhawan.
