The actor says that being public figures they have to weigh their words before speaking on any sensitive topic

In a ‘democratic’ country like India, where freedom of speech is a constitutional right, it’s sad that celebrities have to be extra cautious before voicing their opinion on issues that matter. Shah Rukh Khan – who is a global icon – has been receiving a lot of flak for speaking from his heart.
Varun Dhawan, who will next be seen alongside SRK and Kajol in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, feels that being movie stars makes them easy targets for people to attack.
“In Bollywood, actors are soft targets. We get targeted first because we are in public view. There are times when I don’t voice my opinion because I would end up hurting someone else,” feels Varun.
Junior Dhawan further adds, “There are political agendas you are told not to speak about because you will obviously hurt certain people’s sentiments. One has to be careful about these things.”
Despite being the biggest democracy in the world, if people, especially the ones who are making India proud on international platforms, have to think twice before voicing their opinion, then that’s certainly a thing to worry about!
