Rukmini Sen and Teesta Setalvad launched a Youtube Channel called Hillele Combat TV in September 2014 .

Rukmini started a Feminist Blog called Hillele.org with her Journalist, Human Rights Activist and lawyer friends in 2013.

In 2010 Rukmini reported from the Red Zone of Bastar as a Camera person with the BBC Correspondent Suvojit Bachi for 34 days.

Rukmini has worked as a Journalist for 19 years. Seventeen of which were with mainstream media.She started as an Anchor and Assistant Director. Her interest in Politics took her to News. She was part of shows like Special Session with Karan Thapar, Special Correspondent, India Debates, Session With Seshan, Vaade Irade etc.

Rukmini was all of 24 when she produced her first show INDIA DEBATES which was anchored by MJ Akbar. Around this time she was the Chief-Co-ordinator of Session with Seshan which was anchored by TN Seshan. She was also one of the main Co-ordinators of the Election Programming on Zee News in 1997-1998.

Rukmini launched the trend setting investigative show Special Correspondent in 1999 on Zee News before she joined AAJTAK’s launch team.

Rukmini launched and produced INDIA TODAY’s Editor Prabhu Chawla’s show SEEDHI BAAT in 2001. She also launched and produced Cinema AajTak around this time and supervised the Daily Promo Team.

Having directed many short documentaries and long format shows Rukmini took a sabbatical in 2004 and wrote a film with Sanjeev Sharma (Lyricist of Indian Ocean). This was also the period when Rukmini directed a Documentary on Nandurbar for CRY

With no Producer in sight for Sanjeev’s film Rukmini went back to News. This time she joined Star News. Along with many News stories she produced a daily entertainment news show KHABAR FILMI HAI. Rukmini reported from Yorkshire, Melbourne and Cannes in this period. She also launched and produced a Health show called Apna Khayal Rakhiyega.

Rukmini re-joined TV TODAY n 2007 . She joined Headlines Today and launched their 9pm show GRAND STAND. This was followed by SPICE ROUTE. She was soon made the Head of all Entertainment News on Headlines Today. Rukmini, however, wanted to do more than just Entertainment. She broke many news stories again in this period eg Taslima nasreen’s ouster from West Bengal and Jaipur Bhawan etc.

Rukmini stayed in West Bengal for a month to cover the Historical 2011 Bengal Elections. She produced two long format shows/documentaries from there – 1) End of 35 years of Communist Party Of India (Marxist) rule in West Bengal. 2) Growth of Mamta Bannerjee. She documented the voices of farmers of Nandigram and intellectuals like Mahashweta Devi.

In 2011 Rukmini was made the Head of Entertainment News of the entire TV TODAY NETWORK. She moved to Mumbai and supervised Entertainment shows of Four channels namely AAJTAK, Headlines Today, TEZ, Delhi AajTak.

In 2012 December Rukmini started her work on another Film Script. This was a film on Migrant workers.

In 2013 Rukmini joined the Star Network. It was Star Plus in the beginning and then she shifted to Fox Star Studios to make movies.

In last 19 years Rukmini has written for many Newspapers. She has written in recent times for Hillele.org, Mail Today and Prevention (India Today’s Health Magazine) and earlier for Asean Age. She has also taught and mentored students of TVTMI (TV Today’s training institute), Whistling Woods and Journalism Mentor.
