Films come and films go. Some entertain us, some don’t.
Some become hits, while some become box office disasters. But a special few not
only entertain the audience, but even manage to rake in unbelievable moolah,
both at the domestic and international box office. We bring you an impressive
list of films that fetched over Rs 200 crore worldwide and made a remarkable
entry in the 200-crore club!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: This film is special in more ways than one. Firstly it
brought one of the hottest on-screen pairs and the ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and
Deepika Padukone together post their break-up and secondly, it even turned out
to be the biggest hit of both Ranbir and Deepika’s careers. Yes, the film made
a proud entry into the prestigious 200-crore club; in fact, it missed out on
being a member of a spectacular 300 crore club by a margin of just five crore.
The lifetime worldwide gross collection of the film was a super impressive 295
crore. For a film that was directed by a relatively new director and didn’t
have Khans and Kumars as the lead stars, it’s absolutely commendable how Ranbir
and Deepika’s stardom helped the film to achieve this magnificent feat! In
fact, it even overtook Krrish 3’s
worldwide collection!

Krrish 3: When you have Hrithik Roshan as the protagonist in your
film, you can be rest assured for your film to be a blockbuster; and when the
Greek God decides to play nation’s favourite superhero, the film is expected to
break records of the superstar’s previous films. And it did achieve that. Krrish, as the film, and the character
had become so popular with the audience of all age-groups that they couldn’t
wait for the next outing in the franchise. Hence, post its release, the film
received tremendous love and that resulted in it fetching stupendous money at
the box office. Krrish 3 made
whopping Rs 291crore and fell short by Rs 9 crore to get its name inked in 300
crore club!

Bang Bang: An official remake of Hollywood action thriller, Knight and Day, Bang Bang brought a gorgeous, sizzling hot pair of Hrithik Roshan
and Katrina Kaif together once again after Zindagi
Na Milegi Dobara. Shot at some of the exquisite foreign locations, the film
had enough adrenaline rush to offer to its audience. In fact, the film even
made a remarkable entry in the 100-crore club mere five days after its
theatrical release.

Dabangg 2: Its official! Salman Khan can make the impossible,
possible and can achieve the unachievable! But that doesn’t mean he can make John
Abraham act or help Fardeen and Zayed Khan get movies. But when it comes to
garnering moolah at the box office, nobody does it better than this Dabangg
Khan. His career has been on a perpetual high since Wanted and there has been
no stopping this superstar Khan. No wonder when it came to being a member of
the 200-crore club, it seemed a cake walk for the sequel to Dabangg. Salman’s charm and charisma as
Chulbul Pandey had done the magic and the film was declared a blockbuster.

Tanu Weds Manu
Returns: For a film that didn’t boast of an impressive cast and
not a single A-lister star, to earn over Rs 200 crore worldwide is not a
cakewalk; in fact, it’s a spectacular feat. Yes the lead actress Kangana Ranaut
had a winner like Queen to back her
and we all knew that Tanu Weds Manu Returns
would definitely benefit from her recent victory at the box office. But nobody
had even imagined that this film that was set in Haryana and didn’t have a
global appeal would eventually make over 200 crore at the ticket counters
globally. But it did and now enjoys an enviable position in the prestigious
club!

Bodyguard: Didn’t we say whatever Salman Khan touches turns into
gold? Similar thing happened to his brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s maiden
production venture, Bodyguard.
Despite countless flaws, extremely bad performances, bizarre script and
screenplay, this no-brainer broke all records that the previous films had
created. But wait… it doesn’t just stop there; if 100 crore wasn’t enough, this
unbearable film even went on to make Rs 200 crore at the global box office.

Dabangg: This was one of those first films that had started its
promotions the moment it went on floors. And that’s because, Salman didn’t want
to leave a stone unturned to ensure that the film goes on to become a
blockbuster. After all, his younger brother, Arbaaz’s reputation as a producer
was at stake. The film saw a completely different side of Salman and the
character of Chulbul Pandey which was heavily influenced by the personality
traits of the real star became extremely adorable. Despite bizarre editing and
infinite flaws, the film didn’t just entertain the audience, but even became a
proud member of the 200-crore club!

Singham: There is no doubt that Ajay Devgn is a superstar in his
own right, but he is an actor of his own league. Interestingly, or rather
sadly, this extremely talented and versatile acting star in still not in the
league of Khans and doesn’t command the kind of popularity and stardom in the
international arena the way Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir do. But despite all
odds and challenges, Ajay’s cop act in Singham
managed to create a stir even at the international ticket counters apart from
raking moolah at the domestic box office and that resulted in Singham becoming one of his first films
to gross a little over Rs 200 crore.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: Jab Tak Hai Jaan
had all the reasons to be a sweeper hit – after all it saw the legendary Yash
Chopra and the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan reuniting after Veer Zaara. If that wasn’t enough, it
even witnessed SRK romancing his then arch-rival Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend
Katrina Kaif for the first time. Hence, there was little doubt about the film
becoming a super hit. Although the movie didn’t get the kind of critical acclaim
people expected it to, the above mentioned factors and the fact that it
happened to be Sr. Chopra’s last directorial infused a lot of intrigue among the
audience and of course, SRK’s enviable overseas fan following made it pretty
easy for the film to cross the enviable 200 crore mark!

Ra.One: When Shah Rukh Khan showed some audacity and decided to
make a sci-fi thriller and one-of-its-kind film, Ra.One, the backlash he received was unbelievable and shocking.
Yes, the film’s content and story were not as good as people expected them to
be, but the special effects that the film had to offer to the audience were
never seen before in a Bollywood film. No wonder, SRK was later applauded for
being audacious and trying and experimenting with a new genre and presenting a
new concept to his fans. Ra.One
wasn’t a critically acclaimed movie in the home country, but SRK’s insane
overseas fan following did the magic and helped the film become a proud member
of the super impressive 200 crore club!
