10 Bollywood actresses who’ve shot at Kashmir!

Tabu recently shot for her upcoming film Fitoor in Kashmir and was very
comfortable with the local language, the people and the geography of the area.
Last year, Tabu starred in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider, which required her to shoot extensively in the Kashmir
Valley. Coincidently, this year, Fitoor
took Tabu back to the valley. We bring you a list of Bollywood actors who have
been lucky enough to shoot in the ‘heaven-on–earth’.

Saira Banu
(Junglee):
One can never forget a charming Shammi Kapoor dancing to
one of his super hit songs, Yahoo! Chahe
koi mujhe junglee kahe
with a young, cute and gorgeous Saira Banu in Junglee that was extensively shot in
Kashmir. Back then, the place was easily available for film shoots and actors,
especially the Kapoors weren’t just lucky enough, but even smarter to have used
the beautiful locales to its optimum, thereby showcasing Kashmir in the most
beautiful way possible!

Sharmila Tagore
(Kashmir Ki Kali, Mausam):
Shot at some absolutely gorgeous locations of Kashmir, ye chaand sa roshan chehra song from Kashmir Ki Kali is still one of the
favourites among the youth when it comes to impressing their ladylove. Yet
again, Shammi Kapoor as her co-star, Sharmila Tagore looked like a princess in
the film. She again went back to the valley to shoot a rather
high-on-drama-and-emotions film Mausam
with the brilliant Sanjeev Kumar. Can you forget the immortal song, Dil dhundta hai phir wohi fursat ke raat
din shot in Kashmir?

Rekha (Silsila): Yash Chopra’s directorial Silsila is a legendary film for more reasons than one. The first
being that this is the only one that brought Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha together
for the first and last time, and second being that it is one of those few lucky
films to have been shot in Kashmir. The super hit chartbusters of the songs
that feature Rekha and Amitabh were shot at some never-before-seen locales of
Kashmir and Rekha’s impeccable beauty just added to valley’s charm.

Mandakini (Ram
Teri Ganga Maili):
Yes we all know the reason for which this film is
remembered till date. But how many remember the place where that immortal song
was shot? Yes, the song that sees Mandakini draped only in a white sari was
shot by the showman of the millennium, Raj Kapoor in the gorgeous Kashmir. In
fact, most of the songs and a large portion of the film were shot at Kashmir
which was a favourite among the Kapoors back then.

Manisha Koirala
(Dil Se):
Considered to be one of the best films of Shah Rukh
Khan’s career and one of Manisha Koirala’s best performances till date, Mani
Ratnam shot a considerable portion of the film in the northern valley. Kashmir
being one of the soft targets of terrorists and a rumoured hub of terrorism, Dil Se that dealt with the subject of
terrorism was shot at some exquisite locations of Jammu.

Kareena Kapoor
(Agent Vinod, 3 Idiots, Jab We Met):
Like her predecessors Shammi, Shashi, Rishi and Rajiv
Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor too has been lucky enough to have shot three films in
the valleys of Kashmir. Interestingly, Bebo has shot in Kashmir with her former
boyfriend Shahid Kapoor for Jab We Met
and her husband Saif Ali Khan for Agent
Vinod
. And if that wasn’t enough, Bebo even shot her first film with her
all-time favourite Aamir Khan, 3 Idiots
in Kashmir. Kashmir did look more beautiful with the presence of an actress as
gorgeous as Begum Bebo!

Anushka Sharma
(Jab Tak Hai Jaan):
This film is very special for Anushka Sharma. Firstly,
she got to be part of late legendary Yash Chopra’s last directorial and
secondly, she got to shoot with Shah Rukh Khan in Kashmir with Chopra Sr at the
helm of affairs. Although Anushka was launched by Aditya Chopra in her debut
film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite
Shah Rukh Khan, shooting with the man himself, Yash Chopra and that too at one
of his most favorite locations was super special for Anushka.

Deepika Padukone
(Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani):
One of the blockbusters of her career and biggest hits, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani saw a splendid
looking Deepika with her former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor create the same magic
in Kashmir that was earlier created by Ranbir’s parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and
other predecessors at the Kashmir valley. Thanks to the exotic beauty of the
place, the film, apart from being an entertainer, looked visually spectacular
too!

Alia Bhatt
(Highway)

The trailers of the film were intriguing and inducing
enough for us to go and watch the film because they promised the film to be
visually spectacular. And boy, was it splendid or what!! Considered to be Alia
Bhatt’s best performance till date, her quirky on-screen chemistry with Randeep
Hooda in Highway was much talked
about apart from some mind-blowing locations of Kashmir where major portions of
the film were shot.

Shraddha Kapoor
(Haider):
One of the lucky few among the younger lot of actresses,
Shraddha Kapoor had the privilege of shooting in Kashmir for none other than
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider that fetched
her lot of critical acclaim. The film that dealt with the subject of terrorism
and saw Shahid give his career best performance was shot at some jaw-dropping
locations of the valley which wasn’t captured by any other director before.
Interestingly, Vishal had shot his film Maachis
in Kashmir too.
